 | Minute Maid Statium, Houston, TX |
June 10-12 found 44 Core at Houston Texas at Minute Maid Statium. The Longhaul Bombers were having their homerun contest and we were front and center. And when I say front and center, I mean we were at home plate, on the field talking to the Houston Astros in their dugout! And I have to tell you, the Astros were just as impressed with the Bombers as I was. All the Longhaul Bombers were exceptionally nice. Honestly, I'm not just saying that. All the stuff I have read and heard about these guys being unavaliable, stuck up, and nothing but show was definately not the case. | Rena & Rusty Bumgarner at The Bus in downtown Houston,TX |
Yes, when they showed up at the softball field at the Houston Astros classic in Spring Texas, they certinally had celebrity status and were not able to walk a few steps without being bombarded with handshakes, high fives and questions. But at no time did any of these guys brush any of it off. Almost to the point of missing their flights.
Rusty Bumgarner after his hitting display at Minute Maid gave me the shirt off his back, literaly! We are going to use it for a contest later, but I did'nt even ask. Then him and Johnny McCrawl spent the next two days making me laugh and feel welcome no matter where we were, with and without our cameras. After the weekend, I felt as if I had been their friend for years.
