The New York International Independent Film and Video Festival has announced 138 independently produced and directed films.  Out of these 138 films, Eight were selected by the festival for “Press Coverage”, meaning these films are highlighted in all the chad calek.jpgNYIIFVF press releases as showcase films.  One of these eight is : A Clown Short of Destiny”
A Clown Short of Destiny. Documentary that exposes the controversial history of the Grammy nominated, multi-platinum rock band Slipknot, and their bizarre attempts to discredit their hometown Des Moines's, Iowa local music scene. Special appearances by platinum artist Snoop Dogg, Nick Hexum of 311, SLUG of Atmosphere, Serj Tankian of System of a Down, Marcos Curiel of POD, Phil Arcuri of Dry Kill Logic and Jahred of Hed (PE).
**Directed by Chad Calek, Screens Saturday March 11 @ 8:00pm, Theater 3
Here is the thread to the Press release.  www.nyfilmvideo.com/2006/lamarch2006/press-release/index.htm
The Los Angeles location of this festival will take place March 9-16th.  Everyone here is wishing Chad and Justin the best in this latest award winning festival.  Links to the festival are:  www.nyfilmvideo.com
Chad tells me that while he is pumped and exhilarated about the NYIIFVF, he has still been editing 44 Core and looks forward to starting press in it and making his next film just as great as “A Clown Short of Destiny”  Good Luck Chad, and great job again!

The Park City Film Music Festival was held in Park City Utah, January 19-29 2006.  Our director Chad Calek won the following award:
MUSIC DOCUMENTARIES
Gold Medal for Excellence - Audience Choice for Best Music Documentary- "Gotta Serve Somebody: The Gospel Songs of Bob Dylan"
Gold Medal for Excellence - Jury Choice for Best Music Documentary - "As Smart as They Are: The Author Project"
Gold Medal for Excellence - Director's Choices for Best Music Documentary - "A Clown Short of Destiny" and "Put the Needle on the Record"
Silver Medal for Excellence - Audience Choice for Best Music Documentary- "The Cole Nobody
A CLOWN SHORT OF DESTINY
In 1995 Chad Calek and Justin Holstein began documenting Calek’s hard rock band 35 Inch Mudder, a group from the most unlikely of all places, Des Moines, Iowa. Over the next ten years, the band’s story is woven together with the story of another band now known worldwide as Slipknot, now the planet’s most successful rock/metal band, selling millions of recordings around the world. Ten years of competition between the bands in the insular atmosphere of Iowa is now chronicled in this new film. Excellent expose’.
Congratulations to Chad and Justin for their recognition from their fellow directors.  Everyone here at 44 Core is extremely proud of them.

Everyone at 44 Core Productions and True Player Entertainment wish all of you a Happy New Year.   Although most of the nation is covered in snow and freezing, we are all aware that softball is still on your minds, as well as ours.  44 Core is deep in the editing process and we hope to have some release news for everyone in the next few months.  Till then, this site will still be updated and our merchandise section will soon be complete.  (For all of you who keep asking me about 44 Core shirts and hats)  Thanks everyone for making 2005 such a great and enjoyable year!  And we look forward to making 2006 even better.
